On November 5, 2024, at the Embassy, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam received and worked with a delegation of Vietnamese businesses. The delegation was led by Mr. Nguyen Hong Hue (Peter Hong) with the participation of more than 10 Vietnamese businesses in many different fields such as banking, energy, software technology, fisheries, logistics, real estate, etc.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hue, Chairman of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs, said that this was a working delegation organized by the Association to promote trade in Laos; the delegation will continue to meet with authorities and Vietnamese businesses in Laos to learn about the market and connect with business partners. The businesses participating in the delegation introduced their businesses and their strengths, as well as their needs to connect with partners.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam discussed the investment and trade cooperation situation between the two countries, shared the advantages, challenges and things to note when investing in the Lao market. The Ambassador answered questions from businesses; recommended measures for businesses to best access the Lao market; and assigned the Embassy and Trade Office departments to actively support the requests raised by businesses.
The Lao market is becoming increasingly competitive and more open; creating great opportunities for logistics activities in Laos and across the Vietnam-Laos border. Vietnam's investment activities in Laos are present in most of Laos' important economic sectors and fields such as agriculture, energy, production, distribution of essential goods such as electricity, gasoline, consumer goods; provision of important services such as banking, tourism, hotels, commercial centers... on the one hand, expanding the market for Vietnamese enterprises, helping to create a foundation and basis for the establishment of future industries in Laos, on the other hand, contributing to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual development between Vietnam and Laos.
